A techie question on #Walkergate
If Scott Walker’s former aide* Tim Russell created a private network using a 3G wireless router to hide communications within Walker’s County Executive office, as was recently alleged, did he compromise the security of all data in the office?
The criminal complaint against former Walker aide Kelly Rindfleisch** says the secret e-mail system was used for both “official and unofficial business”.
I began to think about this as I read about how easy it is to hack a 3G network. - source
And I’m wondering if compromising the security of the Milwaukee County IT system should bring on additional charges.
See page 14 of the criminal complaint for details on the hardware used in the secret network.
