WI sand frac mine mtg.: Proposed site is adjacent to Tellock’s Hill Woods State Natural Area

Frac Sand Mine Meeting:  7PM tonight Union Town Hall on Route 22 just East of Symco. Waupaca Foundry is backing a sand mine that is proposed to be adjacent to Tellock’s Hill Woods State Natural Area, which is between Stevens Point and Green Bay. Waupaca Foundry says it will take 75% of the sand that comes out of the mine.  The company was purchased on May 15,2012 by KPS Capital - a firm owned by 9 Texas investors. The mine site was first proposed as 160 acres, then 190 acres, and the latest description of the mine is, “the whole ridge”. [Info came to me via Carol S. a local resident]
